General Terms and Conditions and IPID documents

Customer category
Within the framework of the IDD insurance directive, VAB considers all customers to be non-professional (or retail) customers. As such they will be guaranteed the most comprehensive information.
VAB insurance products are underwritten by KBC Insurance
Registered office: Professor Roger Van Overstraetenplein 2, 3000 Leuven, Belgium. VAT BE 0403.552.563, RLP Leuven. Licensed for all insurance branches under code 0014 (Royal Decree of 4 July, 1979, Belgian Official Gazette of 14 July, 1979) by the National Bank of Belgium, Boulevard de Berlaimont 14, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
VAB assistance products, such as breakdown assistance for cars, motorbikes and bikes, are guaranteed by VAB ltd.
Annual contracts and tacit renewal
VAB insurance products are property damage insurances, with a 12-month term for annual contract, and a term equal to the duration of the trip for temporary travel assistance contracts. Annual contracts are tacitly renewed. Please consult our website for a quote or contact the VAB customer service on 03 253 61 30.
Purchase withdrawal & dispute settlement
If the contract is concluded through a distance-selling process (online or by telephone), you have the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 calendar days from the date on which the contract was signed. The contract must have a validity of more than 30 days and no intervention may yet have been granted on this contract. The withdrawal can be made without giving any reasons, and there are no costs involved. Where appropriate, you will owe VAB nv that part of the premium that corresponds to any period of cover that has already expired. The withdrawal must be made in writing, preferably by registered letter. The cancellation takes effect on the date the e-mail was sent or on the postal date.
Applicable law
VAB products are governed by Belgian law.

The rates stated are valid for new contracts concluded from 01/04/2023.
Complaints Service & Insurance Ombudsman
In case of a complaint, please contact the VAB complaints service (klachtenbehandeling@vab.be or 03 253 61 40). If no agreement can be reached, please contact KBC Complaint Management, Brusselsesteenweg 100, 3000 Leuven, complaints@kbc.be, tel. 0800 620 81 ( (free of charge).
If no satisfactory solution can be found, please contact the Insurance Ombudsman at De Meeûssquare 35, 1000 Brussels, info@ombudsman.as. However, you always retain the right to take legal action before a Belgian court. .
